The GIA describes Type IIa diamonds as follows:
"These diamonds have no measurable nitrogen or boron impurities; they are usually colorless but they can also be gray, light brown, light yellow or light pink. Among all diamonds, those that are type IIA are chemically the most pure."
Less than 2% of the world's mined diamonds can also be classified as Type IIa, making this old cut diamond truly one of the rarest of the rare! The diamond itself is icy-white in color, with a stunning facet pattern. The stone's current clarity grading may be greatly improved upon by a repolish (as with most antique diamonds, this diamond has miniscule nicks and chips along the girdle). This diamond was originally unmounted from a vintage bezel setting (also listed) in platinum. Just a special, special stone all around!
Diamond measures 7.26 - 7.37 x 4.18 mm
